Hi, we're the Dirks family. My husband, Drew and I farm rice in the northern Sacramento Valley of California. While we love what we do, it's nice to take a break from time to time. Farming seems to be an ever evolving industry and in 2022 we were faced with some new challenges. We took a break during the downtime and went to our favorite spot - McArthur, CA. The peaceful valley, the kind people, LOTS of water surrounding you, wildlife galore, awesome fishing, peace and quiet, and some great farmers and ranchers to watch work while we sit back and relax - what's not to love about this place?!
While on vacation in July, we decided to look at a lot that was up for sale (just for fun!). The lot ended up not for sale and instead - a BEAUTIFUL home was what was for sale. We were fortunate enough to be able to take a look inside and we fell instantly in love with the view and the home. We looked at each other and said, "we don't know how we are going to make this work, but we gotta at least try!"
Almost as instantly as we fell in love with it - short term vacation rental came quickly to mind. As time progressed, the pieces kept coming together and now we are officially opening our doors to you!

This home is such a comfortable place to sit back, relax, work on a puzzle, connect with family and friends, head out to the river or lake, catch a fish or two, and then come back in time to watch the cows down below getting fed. We would love to be here full time, but for now are happy to share our little slice of heaven with you while we are back at home growing some quality rice for you and others to enjoy. Check out the pantry. We've stocked it with our own rice - straight from our fields to your table. Enjoy!
